Terms of Service

Food or Friend? shows you pictures and asks whether each one is an animal or something to eat. There is one official challenge a day, the same for everyone. It is free to play, has no accounts, and is provided as is: we try hard to keep it running and fair, but we make no promises about availability, and a daily may occasionally be late, replaced, or corrected.

The scoreboards only mean something if everyone plays the same game once. Please do not replay a daily through cleared storage or multiple browsers, automate play, submit results you did not earn, or post other people's scores as your own. We may remove results and block access where we see this. We do not run anti-cheat beyond that, and we accept that a determined person can cheat at a guessing game about muffins.

The Discord Activity is provided under these terms and Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Launching the Activity from a server channel adds your Discord name, avatar and result to that channel's board for the day, and lets the app post your finish and a next-day summary there. Channel managers control where the app posts with /foodorfriend on and /foodorfriend off, and can remove the app from their server at any time. Server owners are responsible for where they enable it.

What we store, for how long, and how to delete it is described in the Privacy page, which is part of these terms. The short version: no accounts, anonymous scores, self-service deletion.

The photographs in the game are licensed stock images, Creative Commons images, our own photography, or generated images, and remain the property of their respective owners. The game's name, design and text are ours. You may share your results, screenshots and share cards freely. You may not scrape the game's images or reuse them outside the game.

The game is suitable for all ages, but to play inside Discord you must meet Discord's minimum age for your country. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Food or Friend? is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, including lost streaks, wrong verdicts about guinea pigs, or downtime. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it. Questions and takedown requests: open an issue at github.com/danielfang7/foodorfriend.
